Last December, when we were traveling from Jaipur to Khatu Shyamji Temple, we were astonished by the sight of a neelgai — a large antelope found in most of the wild areas of middle and north India. I was able to take its photo from the car.
Neelgai has several names given to it. Some of them are…
Boselaphus Tragocamelus [scientific name], नीलगाउ, नीलगाय, Blue Bull, Nilgau, Nilgai
Aloha from Waikiki :)

Nice view of the Blue Bull! There is a native American story about a Blue Deer... Magical powers...
ReplyDelete@ blog with no name: WOW!
ReplyDeleteOlá

Wow that is some interesting antelope. Thanks for sharing, the photo looks so mystical. Anna :)
ReplyDeleteFrom the car? It looks like you were standing right in front of it! What a wonderful shot.
ReplyDelete@ sideny: Obrigado :)
ReplyDelete@ Anna: I'm so glad you liked it :)
@ Clytie: While taking the photo, I was feeling the same — as if I am standing in front of it!
He is quite a large beast and it is funny because his head is so small in proportion to the rest of his body!
ReplyDelete@ RNSANE: And one more weird thing is that it's not actually a bull, but an antelope!
ReplyDelete@ Cloudia: Aloha to Waikiki! :)
ReplyDeleteWow - what a fascinating animal. A huge strong body with a disproportionately small head.
