नीलगाय, नीलगाउ, Nilgai, Nilgau, Blue Bull, Boselaphus Tragocamelus seen on way to Khatu Shyamji Temple

Last December, when we were traveling from Jaipur to Khatu Shyamji Temple, we were astonished by the sight of a neelgai — a large antelope found in most of the wild areas of middle and north India. I was able to take its photo from the car.

Neelgai has several names given to it. Some of them are…
Boselaphus Tragocamelus [scientific name], नीलगाउ, नीलगाय, Blue Bull, Nilgau, Nilgai

  6. He is quite a large beast and it is funny because his head is so small in proportion to the rest of his body!

  7. @ RNSANE: And one more weird thing is that it's not actually a bull, but an antelope!

  9. Wow - what a fascinating animal. A huge strong body with a disproportionately small head.
