Deer in Katraj Zoo

Just a casual photo this time with a meaning, probably. It seems that the deer is in search of an unending land to run on at its full speed. I photographed this deer in Katraj zoo.

Deer in Katraj Zoo

There are many deer in Katraj zoo, all beautiful and healthy, but they need freedom. Those who are regular visitors here on my blog might recall that I had published Wednesday Wallpapers of this deer in the past, and it was liked very much because of the details, good color contrast and adequate icon space on the left side.

I hope you like the photo of this beautiful deer.

Flowers of coconut, and baby coconut

Close-up of flowers of coconut and baby coconut

Have you seen Carmen's [RNSANE] comment on my previous post on Leaf of a coconut tree? My reply was that I would publish the next post with the flowers of coconut as the coconut were babies when I photographed the leaves of coconut tree with a different perspective. Here it is — a post showing the beauty of flowers of coconut tree. Am I dumb? The flowers are hardly visible. Most of them have turned into baby coconuts. They look so cute and soft as opposed to their grown ones!

Broad views are also necessary I think!

Leaf of a coconut tree

From our only 2 rooms within 7 hills in a forest of Konkan, the view was something out of the world people have forgot and left-habit to live in. My post named In darkness has a link showing where we were.

You will have to come back to see the view in its global definition :) For now, see some other views I have from the same rooms. A few coconut trees were in a different perspective for me because seeing them from a diagonal top standing at a touchable distance is a rare opportunity. Normally, we see coconut trees from either their bottom, or from a high roof way above them. Getting a different view is less possible. See the photographs below. What do you have to say about these views of leaves of coconut trees?

4 Black-winged Stilts AKA Common Stilt (Scientific Name: Himantopus Himantopus)

4 Black-winged Stilts AKA Common Stilt (Scientific Name: Himantopus Himantopus)

Black-winged Stilt is a beauty. Even though it is not a rare bird, for me it is rare because I do not remember seeing any black-winged stilt any time until about 1½ years back. We went to a bird-watching spot named Kavdi last to last December, where the abundance of birds almost took our breath away with their sheer number and unbelievable beauty. We spotted many different species of birds, one of them was the black-winged stilt.

A natural set-up of 4 black-winged stilts caught our sight. I turned my back towards them and started moving backward giving no clue to them that I was closing in. Megha and Deepak indicated to me about the right time. I slowly turned myself facing them and voila! I got a good shot :)

Here is a close-up photo to show the beauty of black-winged stilt

Get out of the scene you other bird! Are you a piper?

Bristly Smithia [AKA Smithia Setulosa, Motha Kawla, मोठा कवला]

Post last monsoon, I published a photo of a flower named Bristly Smithia. It is known as Smithia Setulosa also. Locally, it's named मोठा कवला, spelled in English as Motha Kawla.

In a month or two, monsoon in my area will come to an end, although the southern part of Western Ghats will receive monsoon rains until the end of December. As a memory of post monsoon photography done last year, I am publishing a few more photos of Bristly Smithia that I painted on bits and bytes that time. I hope you will like these photos of Bristly Smithia.

Salasar Balaji

Salasar Balaji

Salasar Balaji is a statue of lord Hanuman in a holy place named Salasar in Rajasthan about 170 kilometers from Jaipur. When I went to the temple of Salasar Balaji some 1½ years back, photography was not allowed inside. I have no idea who managed to take the above photograph as I received it in an email forward.

If you are the original photographer of the above photo of Salasar Balaji, please comment here and let me know. I will very happily link back to you.

Bright White Pinda Concanensis (Panda) Flowers

Bright White Pinda Concanensis (Panda) Flowers

Probably, there is no information about Bright White Pinda Concanensis (Panda) flowers on the web! Well, you got it right. I too don't have any :) What I know is that Bright White Pinda Concanensis is a native flower of the western ghats, blooming only for a few days annually every monsoon. It's a tiny flower. It is a herb too with some importance in Ayurved. The flowers bloom on a small shrub about 1½ foot in height.

Keeping informative and technical stuff apart, tell me; do you find Bright White Pinda Concanensis (Panda) flowers beautiful? At least my eyes are filled by the beauty. Nature is amazing!

Dedicated Servers, Managed Hosting and Colocation

Well unbelievable, but just when I published my previous post on web hosting information, a new email dropped into my emailbox. So if you are here looking for some more information, which I must clarify, on a particular topic, this post may be of some help to you.

The email that came in has links to a good website that provides services like dedicated servers, managed hosting, colocation, etc. One must have a look at the pages I have linked above. Maybe, it is the right website that you were searching for a long time!

Let me clarify what these things mean…

Dedicated Servers: As the name suggests, unlike shared hosting, the hosting company assigns a dedicated server for your website, making is less vulnerable, and faster in loading.

Managed Hosting: There are different types of dedicated hosting services, one of those types is Managed Hosting. Some other types are self-managed hosting, fully managed hosting, unmanaged hosting, etc., which I think have good names to explain themselves.

Colocation: It is a actually a huge data center that is used by multiple companies to locale their server, network and storage requirement.

Web Hosting Information

I have a client who is looking for an automated online web hosting solution. After searching a lot and looking with references, I found a great website for comparison. Yes, click on the link above. To top it, the website has a tool that showcases award winning web hosting companies.

I feel, it is a must visit website wherein one can compare different web hosting companies and find out great information to decide which company to go with. There are innumerous parameters that lead to a decision as to which company to choose. What I mean to say is that an X company might have great cost as its winning edge, but it may not have ASP hosting that my client might be looking for, making the X company useless for me.

All in all, after deciding on what one wants, one can opt for a great company backed by great comparison by the linked website.

I hope this is of great information to those who are looking for a real great tool to decide on which hosting company to go with for their personal use, or for their clients.

Leaf in a fairy world

Leaf in a fairy world

It's a leaf in a fairy world! It's wonderful to know how sometimes a real life thing can look like from a fairy world. Somehow, the light condition and the produced colors of this photo have a touch of being from a fairy world. I know the leaf is a bit eaten, but hey, where is the fairy style snail?
