Dwarpal is a guard. Indian mythology has a great importance of dwarpal. Every temple, residence, monument, etc. must have dwarpals on both sides of the main door, who will destroy any evil trying to enter the premise. A dwarpal may not necessarily be a human; it can be a powerful animal also, like a lion.
