I was amazed at the number of stray dogs in India...guess that is why the travel clinic insisted I get a "pre-rabies" vaccine, in case I was bitten far from a major city. I am always wanting to pet dogs but, most I saw, weren't too friendly - or, maybe, I was just a bit more cautious. I did pet a lot of cows, though, Bhavesh!
I'm home two weeks already...wanting to get back to India!
It's now almost three weeks....and, yes, I am really missing India...though I imagine it is scorching right now. But it is so chilly to me here after my 25 lb weight loss and our usual San Francisco area cool temperatures.
As for cows, I pet them everywhere...the friendliest, though, I've found are in Switzerland. Must be that, there, they are so well cared for and they get nice bells around their necks.!
I know that one series of shots I got before my trip was a "pre-rabies" vaccine in case I should be bitten some distance from a city and had to be transported to a medical facility! I got every shot recommended by the Center for Disease Control...some $500 worth...thankfully, my insurance covered it all.

Was he friendly in the end? Or- did he scare you away? :)

India has a big problem of stray dogs actually. Many are badly bitten, but the ratio is still OK.
