Peacocks [Mor, मोर] of Morachi Chincholi [मोराची चिंचोली]

Peacock [Mor, मोर] at Morachi Chincholi

These peacocks are not different than other peacocks, just that they are found in plenty at Morachi Chincholi [मोराची चिंचोली], a 50 km drive from Pune city. Unfortunately, I could neither make it early morning, nor late evening that are considered the best times for seeing peacocks. However, I saw many peacocks at about 3 in the afternoon also!

Well, I'm not rich enough to afford a 600+ mm lens currently. So the photographs are not great close-ups. But I've tried my best. I'd love to read your comments. And yes, don't forget to note the very special appearance of a peahen also, because peacocks are not complete without peahens, just as men are incomplete without women. Of course, women are as equally incomplete without men, but let's leave it here, and enjoy the pictures of the Indian Logo…

  7. I agree Babzy :)

    Hello Anu,
The nearest place to stay I would suggest is Pune only. It's only about 50 kms. from Pune. So one can start before dawn in Pune to reach well early to see the show.

  14. I must say the peahen stole my heart, despite her drab appearance in comparison with the splendid males.

Be glad you cannot afford that 600mm lens yet; I like the depth of field on these photographs best, and the way you maximize the image by careful composition.

  19. I think this is one of the most beautiful birds you photographed! You caught him with all his feathers out too- Fantastic! I love your snap shots..(I just have a sony cybershot) and not super zoom..but aside from the equipment, I think there is something about shooting the photos where you just get lost in there (for me its generally my yard) then magnify your surroundings. Isn't there always a surpise? I did leave a comment to your last post (thanks) and I'm enjoying your images from your world. I also like the fact you put your words in for the meaning- the letters/writing are really cool- Hope you have a great day- Regina
