Lavafall at Yosemite
The email mentioned that these are not any kind of a lavafalls or firefalls, but normal waterfalls that have this color in the last 2 weeks of February at dusk. It doesn't simply mean that it's easy to photograph. The sun needs to be in a particular angle and position to create such a light in the waterfalls. Also, it's said that February is amongst the most volatile in terms of weather, in Yosemite National Park. So getting the perfect sunlight is rare. Well, some people did manage to photograph this magical phenomenon, and I received those photos on email. So why not share them with you all? :)

Yosemite is a wonderful national park not too far from me ( about a three hour drive ) in northern CA. I haven't been there in many years but my son and some of his friends were just there recently on a camping trip. It is such a beautiful place. I've never heard of this phenomenon.

okay well in your second link it talks about a double exposure meaning the background was from a different picture meaning the sky.... it is a naturally occurring event its the way that light refracts through water.... and it only happens in february. Beware what you read on wiki's it can be informative but anyone in the world can add what they want there... do real research don't cop out and pull a 9th grade english paper no no....

ReplyDeleteThere are picture out there of both the naturally occurring "firefall" and the man made one. Yosemite stopped the tradition of the firefall quite a while back. The natural occurrence happens in late February and some years might not happen at all if the weather doesn't permit it to happen. (http://www.shutterbug.net/techniques/outdoor_travel/1206locations/)
