St. Mary’s Church, Pune — the mother church of the deccan plateau
St. Mary’s Church in Pune city is said to be the oldest church of the Deccan Plateau. It was built by Lieutenant Nash of the East India Company. Bishop Reginald Heber [the Bishop of Calcutta then] laid the foundation of the building in 1825.
St. Mary’s Church is a large building indeed. There is a lot of space around the church, adding to the peaceful feeling. The roses in different colors are quite beautiful.
Here I present you with some of the photos that I have taken at the white large church. See the Google location map of the church at the end of the post, just after the last photograph.
Peace is what you gain when you pay visit to such spiritual places. So do take driving directions from the map and enjoy the gain of paying! :)

DeleteIt is a beautiful church! I am always impressed with magnificent stained glass windows, but what really enthused me was the painted pipes of the organ.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I too quite like the stained glass windows! They look so beautiful and powerful!
DeleteAnd the painted pipes of the organ caught my attention well. It was one of the highlights :)

DeletePerhaps you should consider leaving the lies and enslavement of the religious paradigm and live as a Free Man in the Light of Truth. Without guilt and hate. Perhaps.
ReplyDeleteNot perhaps, but indeed! Indeed, everyone needs to leave religion behind, and take peace and harmony with nature forward.
DeleteYou given us an outstanding tour of a most beautiful church. If I make it back to Pune, I must see it. Of course, I still want to see the Ganesha temple where you took that most amazing photograph.
ReplyDeleteYou are very much welcome Carmen! Both the places have their own grace :)
