Very hilarious, isn't it? The lens effect probably unintentionally created an effect where Yuvraj Singh is beating Ricky Ponting on his butts with a cricket bat. This seems to be a 2011 cricket world cup photo.

Sparrow

It was unusual; we didn't imagine that we could photograph a sparrow while it was just taking off, just at the perfect time! A female sparrow was sitting a few feet away from us feeding on the spills of laddu [Indian sweet balls] that people were eating around. Megha asked me for camera. She focused and kept still for a while, and then released the shutter. What I saw in reward was the below photo of a sparrow.



I have photographed sparrow in the past, but those were usual photographs. See sparrow. The uniqueness in the photo of sparrow that Megha shot was that the sparrow was just taking off. Megha's timing was perfect, and so the photo was perfect. What say?

Correction: The sparrow in the above photo is not a female sparrow, but a male sparrow. RNSANE asked in the comments below, and I explained that the sparrow is female because it doesn't have black cap. But I didn't note that the overall colors indicate male gene. As far as the cap is concerned, I restudied sparrows again today and noted that male sparrow isn't identified by black cap, but only black beard and black area near eyes [seems like shades :)].

Holi

Holi is the festival of burning off evil of any sort. Holi is the festival of forgetting any misunderstandings and cementing bonds of friendship and love again. I photographed the fire of holi 2 days back, in the night when the spirit of goodness was ignited.

The fire of holi is actually bonfire set as an icon and remembrance of Holika's end and purity's win. Prahlad had miraculously escaped the wicked intentional bonfire set by demoness Holika. She sat in bonfire and had put baby Prahlad in her lap. She had the power to keep alive in fire. But purity and goodness of Prahlad inverted the power; baby Prahlad was safe and Holika got destroyed. This is the essence of the festival of holi — the win of goodness over evil.

Yesterday was the closest moon in a long time as said by scientists. I was eager to see the closest moon, and did get to see it as there were no clouds in the sky. The view of the closest moon was clear to the eyes, and the scene was fantastic, although very similar to a normal full moon. I don't have an exceptionally long lens, but still tried my best to photograph the beauty of the closest moon. I hope you will like :)

A few days back, when we went to Shivneri fort, there was this amazing set of multiple peaks on a mountain. We stopped to have a break, and to look the multiple peaks with comfort. The view was stunning. I am sharing 2 photos below of the multiple peaks. Tell me whether you like them.

I made some searches on Google to know what name this mountain with multiple peaks has been given, but I could not find any. Who knows, each peak might have a different name! Well anyway, see a bit close-up of the multiple peaks in the below photo.

Did you notice one strange thing in these multiple peaks? The left most has a bridge like structure connecting to the left side mountain! It must be an awe-inspiring experience to sit there for hours. What say?

Hairpin Turn

Have you ever driven your car or motorcycle on a mountain road, especially on a hairpin turn? It's such a great feeling I tell you. The feeling of driving on a hairpin turn is way too good driving a motorcycle than a car. If you have not yet, try driving your motorcycle on a hairpin turn. I bet you will come back on this page and will express your joy in the comments section below :)

In India, especially in the region I live in — the Western Ghats, mountain roads are bound to be driven on if you are going on a long drive. Coming across a hairpin turn is very normal. I have driven my Pulsar 180 on many mountain roads with hairpin turn. The most pleasurable hairpin turn is in Kashedi Ghat in Ratnagiri district of Konkan area. It has fantastic scenic view at the twist of the hairpin turn.

The below hairpin turn was photographed on way to Bhimashankar.

A very tricky hairpin turn I remember is on Sinhgadh. It is the last turn to reach the parking lot. The hairpin turn of Sinhgadh is so demanding of driving skills that novice drivers sometimes lose control and start moving backwards, which is extremely dangerous.

Another interesting hairpin turn comes across while driving up Matheran. It is also very tricky as the signboard just before the turn suggests — "First gear only".

Oriental White Eye (Zosterops Palpebrosus)

Have you seen my past post on Oriental White Eye? We had a chance to photograph the Oriental White Eye again when we were in Nighoj enjoying breathtaking views of potholes. An Oriental White Eye was sipping the sweet nectar of flowers with its friend Sunbird. Actually I'm not sure whether it was enjoying the nector or was eating small ants and other insects on the flowers as Oriental White Eye does not have a straw-like beak like the Sunbird. Whatever it may be doing; we were rewarded with a front-facing photograph of Oriental White Eye [scientifically named as Zosterops Palpebrosus]
