Peacocks [Mor, मोर] of Morachi Chincholi [मोराची चिंचोली]

These peacocks are not different than other peacocks, just that they are found in plenty at Morachi Chincholi [मोराची चिंचोली], a 50 km drive from Pune city. Unfortunately, I could neither make it early morning, nor late evening that are considered the best times for seeing peacocks. However, I saw many peacocks at about 3 in the afternoon also!

Well, I'm not rich enough to afford a 600+ mm lens currently. So the photographs are not great close-ups. But I've tried my best. I'd love to read your comments. And yes, don't forget to note the very special appearance of a peahen also, because peacocks are not complete without peahens, just as men are incomplete without women. Of course, women are as equally incomplete without men, but let's leave it here, and enjoy the pictures of the Indian Logo…

Garden Lizard

There was a very unusual feeling photographing this magnificent reptile. Somehow, we felt as if this garden lizard came from nowhere and posed specifically for us. It was paranormal. Did you notice, it's looking into the camera lens in all the shots!?

Long-tailed Shrike

Birds are just amazing, aren't they? The first things that my mind thinks when I see a bird, is a dream to fly, to see the world from a bird's perspective, to feel the freedom a bird has while flying.

The location of the photograph is the same one mentioned in my previous post on a dragonfly.

Dragonfly

These are amazing creatures, have you ever noticed? They have 4, transparent, super-thin, delicate wings. But these insects use them in such a great way that their flight is amongst the most perfectly controlled in all the flying creatures!

I remember, when I was a child, we used to call these as Helicopters! Its native name is Patanga [पतंगा]. Do you have any specific memories with these? Or any local names? Or anything relating to this highly-engineered insect?

And oh yes, I almost forgot to mention where I found this wonder. We were on our way to a beautiful place named Varandha Ghat. As it's far from my home, considering that we always travel on my motorbike, we usually take short breaks of 10-15 minutes to relax from the driving strain. We took a halt on midway, about 50 kilometers from our home, and were looking for something to frame. Wind was blowing very fast and this biological machine appeared all of a sudden on a small unripe maize ear. I was delighted to photograph this beauty.

My today's style is well-pressed blue-white striped formal shirt and navy-blue semi-formal six-pocket trouser with all-wear laced shoes, and uncombed curly gel hairstyle with 3 day beard.

Goat in Attitude

On way to the Purandar Fort [my yet another visit recently], I found an unusual goat! The background was unusually beautiful with locally-seasonal marigolds, so was the goat's attitude. I'm eager to see your reactions to this Goat in Attitude…

Gold

I am a crazy person, and I always keep thinking. Today's topic was Gold. What a wonderful element it is, isn't it? Many of us may not know many facts about gold. Do you know the following?

• One of the greatest features of gold is that it's corrosion-less.
• Gold isn't man-made. It's a natural element in the periodic table.
• The atomic number of gold is 79.
• The chemical symbol of gold is Au, derived from it's latin name Aurum.
• Gold is found as grains in rocks!
• Gold is the most ductile metal.
• Despite being metal, it's soft at room temperature.
• As mentioned in an article published in NatGeo in January this year, "In all of history, only 161,000 tons of gold have been mined, barely enough to fill two Olympic-size swimming pools."
