Tamhini ghat is amazing!

Bhavesh in Baur Ghat — Happy Mood :)

I have been mentioning many times about this ghat and that ghat, but silly me never imagined that most of my foreign friends may not understand what I mean by "ghat". It actually is a road built on hills and mountains; such roads are full of twists and turns, and are difficult to drive on. Such roads offer excellent scenery and driving pleasure. The picturesque locations on such roads are beautiful because most of the times the place are uninhabited by humans.

On one of hills bearing such ghats, named Baur ghat, I had seeded some plants. Previous monsoon I went there to check the status. None of the seeds probably made it to a plant as some people dug up the hill I seeded. I was still happy believing that the seeds are actually taken inside the soil due to the digging, the process we name plowing when in farming. The process acts the same with the trees/plants we don't usually farm. Plowing gives them an opportunity to grow.

Jaisalmer is amazing. Everything is beautiful. One of those amazingly beautiful things was the carvings done on every wall. I mean, every home in Jaisalmer is a palace in itself! You don't believe it? See the below photo to see how beautiful a home's wall can be. It of course is of a palace, still a home of someone :)

Lavafall at Yosemite


The email mentioned that these are not any kind of a lavafalls or firefalls, but normal waterfalls that have this color in the last 2 weeks of February at dusk. It doesn't simply mean that it's easy to photograph. The sun needs to be in a particular angle and position to create such a light in the waterfalls. Also, it's said that February is amongst the most volatile in terms of weather, in Yosemite National Park. So getting the perfect sunlight is rare. Well, some people did manage to photograph this magical phenomenon, and I received those photos on email. So why not share them with you all? :)

Tamhini ghat - Diamonds found in Tamhini ghat

Today's breaking news: A couple roaming in the dreamland area of Tamhini Ghat in the Western Ghats of India found a huge collection of natural diamonds lying everywhere around. Diamond expert Bhavesh mentioned after analysis that these are the purest diamonds ever seen by any human ever! There are new miracles discovered everyday in the Sahyadri mountain range, globally getting recognized as the Western Ghats of India.

Oriental white-eye [Zosterops Palpebrosus] bird in leaves

We were thinking what to do with 2 hours spare time. Recalled from the past that we had decided to go to the old Katraj ghat whenever we have short time in hand. The old road is less used now because of the new by-pass created on the Bombay-Bangalore National Highway number 4 [NH4], just a kilometer from my home. We went there.

When we were about to reach the top road of the elephant mountain. We decided to take a break and enjoy the beauty of the valley. We stopped and were looking down the slopes when we spotted this cute fluffy blob jumping here and there in search of insects and nectar [its prime food]. Damn, I was feeling so sad that I don't have 8 lakh rupees [about US$18000]. I could have bought an 800 mm lens and could have taken a way better photo. Of course, my 250 mm lens is doing an excellent job. But 800 mm would have done just the magic of painting this pretty oriental white-eye bird.

Masakkali in our home

Well, most of you readers are from outside India. So you might not be aware of what I'm referring to as masakkali. Actually, in an Indian movie named Delhi 6, actress Sonam Kapoor danced in a song "masakkali masakkali, matakkali matakkali". The actress has a white pigeon with her.

We too have a white pigeon living with us. We did not make it a pet, but she just likes to stay with us. My wife has named her Masakkali, and she loves her way too much!

Masakkali was bathing yesterday, and my wife could not resist to keep memories. She took the following photos of Masakkali.

Small statues of Ganpati and Shiv

I'm not sure how many of you know about lord Ganpati and lord Shiv, but these are in the list of the most worshiped GODs in India. You will find statues of different GODs in every house of India. In Jaisalmer [Rajasthan State, India], small statues of different GODs were on sale in a palace named Patwon ki Haveli [meaning Palace of Patwas]. One of the shops had a nice variety; it caught my eyes.



Yellow is a broadly used color in Jaisalmer as the stones naturally found there are yellow colored. Everything is made of that stone! See the walls on which the puppets are hung in my Puppets of Rajasthan post.

I have tried very less in HDR photography. But it's really amazing to work it; creates stunning output that is otherwise impossible to get in normal photography.

Weekend Fun :: Tomato Story

A Jobless man applied for the position of 'office boy' at Microsoft. The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test.

'You are employed' he said.. Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start.

The man replied 'But I don't have a computer, neither an email'.

'I'm sorry', said the HR manager. If you don't have an email, that means you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job.'

The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg tomato crate. He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours, he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation three times, and returned home with $60.

The man realized that he can survive by this way, and started to go everyday earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled everyday.

Shortly, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles.

5 years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US ... He started to plan his family's future, and decided to have a life insurance.

He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded the broker asked him his email. The man replied,'I don't have an email.' The broker answered curiously, 'You don't have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an e mail?!!' The man thought for a while and replied, 'Yes, I'd be an office boy at Microsoft!'

Moral of the story

Internet is not the solution to your life.

Even If you don't have Internet, you can still work hard, & become a millionaire.

Reason for happiness [Tree at Veer dam backwater]

I think I do not need a reason to be happy; I'm a person of "always happy" kind. But if you are sad, and are looking for a reason to be happy, I am sure this beautiful tree will bring a smile on your face. Just imagine how peaceful, calm and satisfied-of-life it is despite standing on a single leg for decades! Our life is way better, don't you think so?



We took this photo on a trip to the backwaters of Veer dam when we were trying to photograph some wild birds migrated from Siberia. We couldn't take picture of any, but of course, the landscape was stunning!
